Federal Regulations permit an institution to refuse to originate a loan, or to originate a loan for an amount less than the borrower’s maximum eligibility. Decisions must be made on a case-by-case basis and will not be determined based on the borrower’s race, sex, color, income, religion, national origin, age, or handicapped status. Students will be notified in writing of the amount of loan approved. Should the institution decide to not originate a loan or to reduce the amount of the loan, the college will document the reasons and provide the explanation to the student in writing.
